Review: Revlon Photoready Two Way Powder Foundation SPF 19

Product Info from box:

Photochromatic pigments bend, reflect and diffuse light to erase every flaw.

Silky smooth jet-milled powder for a soft matte finish.

Oil-free. Fragrance-free.

RETAIL PRICE: Will verify price. I think this costs between Php 800-900.

WEIGHT: 10.5 grams

SHADES: Will check.

PROS:

* i love products with SPF!

* Shell 004 matches my NC20 skintone.

* powder is finely milled similar to my KATE Mineral Powder Foundation.

* easy to apply using a damp/dry sponge or a brush.

* non-cakey; looks very natural in pictures and even in person.

* no whitish cast on photos

* medium to full buildable coverage - covers pores and slight imperfections.

* I love the finish, not too matte or dewy looking IMO.

* good oil-control

CONS:

* it has a slight weird smell but the scent goes away a few minutes after application.

* i still need to use concealer on my dark undereyes and some pimple marks.

TIPS:

* Always wash the sponge with a mild shampoo or anti-bacterial liquid to prevent breakouts.

* For a sheer coverage use a Kabuki brush to set BB cream or foundation.

* For a medium to full coverage, slightly damp the sponge and apply in thin layers.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:

I highly recommend this to powder foundation lovers and to those who are too lazy to use liquid foundation.

OVERALL:

A very good, inexpensive powder foundation that is so easy to use! I really LOVE the Photoready line, but I only use their foundations during special occassions. On normal days, I just stick to BB Creams. Oh, I can't wait for the Photoready stick concealer to be available locally =)

Sleek black compact - looks so classy IMO!

I think the size is almost similar to the Photoready Compact Makeup.

Review: Sleek Curacao I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette from Carribean Collection

Inspired by dynamic colours reminiscent of the Carribean, Sleek MakeUp has launched a Limited Edition Carribean Collection that combines 2 key Sring/Summer 2011 trends: 1970's beauty and bold brights to catapult you into that holiday feeling.

I will be reviewing first the Curacao I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette.

Product Info from SLEEK MAKEUP:

Jet off into paradise with the Curacao I-Divine 12 pc. Eyeshadow palette, a mix of bold corals, ocean blue hues, and tangerine brights. Sleek MakeUp's high colour pigmentation helps recreate the stand-out orange eyes rocked by Hollywood hottie Scarlett Johanssen and Pop Queen Fergie this Spring. Bright eyes are back; wear vivid sweep of coral or lucid yellow as seen at the Derek Lam and Peter Som fashion shows in 2011.

RETAIL PRICE: $10.50 on Sleek website.

WEIGHT: 12 x 1.1 grams

PROS:

* eyeshadow is mineral based, so lesser chance of allergies.

* palette is sleek and easy fits in your makeup bag.

* a mixture of 6 matte & 6 shimmery shades.

* really pigmented ; good color-pay off even without primer.

* minimal fall-outs due to its creamy, buttery texture.

* unscented

* amazing staying power; color did not fade throughout the day.

* darker shades can be used as eyeliner.

* minimal creasing on the inner corners of my eye (after 6 hours - not bad at all!)

Note: I have slightly oily lids.

CONS:

* not available locally.

* some shades are chalky (blue lagoon & screwdriver)

TIPS:

* Due to its creamy powder formula, I've noticed that it's best when you use a natural hair eyeshadow brush for easier application and to minimize fall-outs, if you don't own one you can also use your fingertips or the applicator provided.

* If your eyelids are not that oily like mine you can get away without using an eye primer, but if you have oily lids I highly recommend using one.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:

Anyone who's a fan of bright colored eye makeup!

OVERALL:

The shades are really vibrant and pretty, but they are to bright for my liking... I prefer the Sleek Oh So Special palette for everyday use (will post swatches soon). Don't worry this palette won't go to waste, we are planning a photoshoot this month and I'm definitely using this!

* Protects against UV radiation - SPF 25++ PA protects UVA & UVB, and protects your skin at all times.

RETAIL PRICE: Regular price is HK$224 (about Php 1,300) but I got this on sale for less than Php 1,000. I bought this during my Hongkong trip a month ago.

WEIGHT: 40 grams

SHADES : Available in 1 shade only.

PROS:
* super cute hot pink packaging
* the pump dispenses just enough amount product ; I only need 2 pumps for my face & neck.
* has SPF 25
* texture is a bit thicker than Purederm but not as thick as Dr. Jart Silver label.

* offers sheer to medium coverage.
* no whitish cast
* brightens my face like other BB creams

CONS:
* not available locally. If you want to buy one, try Ebay or Multiply shops.
* available in only 1 shade and fits NC20-35 skintones IMO.
* oil control is so-so, after 3 hours my t-zone starts to look shiny (when used without primer).
* has a greyish undertone (see side by side pics with Dr. Jart)
* oxidizes during the day

TIPS:
* After washing your face, apply right after skincare products.
* For oily skin, apply primer prior to BB cream application. Set with loose powder/pressed powder with good oil control.
* To avoid looking cakey, blot your face first using oil absorbing sheets before applying powder.
* Please remove all traces of BB cream/makeup before going to bed to avoid clogging your pores.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
Ladies with dry-normal skin that needs minimal coverage.

OVERALL:
Okay so this is the 9th BB cream that I've tried. I wish the staying power is good and the shade is kinda lighter coz I'm acidic, but that can be fixed using a good primer and a lighter shade of powder.

My all time favorite is Dr. Jart Silver Label because of its coverage and staying power. I even asked my bro in law who's based in Hongkong to buy a back-up for me coz its much cheaper there. Will post swatches of all my BB creams soon (I alternate using Missha Perfect cover #13, Purederm Magic BB cream, Skin79 and Dr. Jart Silver label).

* no smudging, flaking, and fading throughout the day.

CONS:

TIPS:
* always keep the cap tightly closed.

OVERALL:
I recently dyed my hair 2 shades lighter (I used Revlon Colorsilk Light Golden brown #54) and using a black eyeliner during daytime looks too harsh on me, so this is an alternative to a jet black shade to soften my face.

More pics (click to enlarge)

Notice the tiny gold specks/shimmers?

Swatch
I meant blackish-brown with gold flecks.

Placed my hand under running water for a few seconds and rubbed it 20x.
