Review: Kanebo Kate Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 15

Kanebo Kate Mineral Powder foundation in OC-B

Product Info from KATE:
Advanced mineral powder foundation that is gentle on the skin with reliable visible pore coverage. With the new double-effect mineral powder (skin protection & visible pore coverage), this advanced mineral foundation creates soft and smooth skin.

* With SPF 15 PA++
* Multiple moisturising ingredients (olive oil, jojoba oil & almond oil)

* Paraben (preservative) free
* Ultraviolet- absorber free
* Fragrance-free

Note: This foundation contains mineral powder coated with water-retentive seaweed-derived material.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 900.00 at Kanebo counters.

WEIGHT: 11 grams

SHADES : Available in 3 shades.
* OC-B
* OC-C
* OC-D

PROS:
* i love the minimalist white compact.
* powder is finely milled
* its mineral makeup and good for our skin
* OC-B matches my NC20 skintone
* looks like 2nd skin & does not cake even with frequent touch-ups
* feels lightweight
* unscented
* no allergies
* sponge included is soft.
* good oil control. I only retouch once during the day.
Note: I have normal skin with slightly oily t-zone.

CONS:
* KATE is not yet available here in Cebu city.
* coverage is sheer so it does not cover pimple marks etc. At first I was expecting a medium-full coverage coz this is labelled as a "Powder Foundation".

TIPS:
* use the protective plastic sheet as barrier to prevent the sponge from contaminating the powder foundation.
* always wash the sponge to avoid breakouts. I'm using Joy anti-bacterial dishwashing liquid for my powder puffs, sponges and brushes.
* you can also use a kabuki brush to apply this powder to set foundation/bb cream.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
Mineral makeup lovers or anyone who wants a sheer coverage powder. I think this suits ladies with dry, normal or combination skintypes.

OVERALL:
I love the oil control and how natural it looks but I need a medium coverage powder to cover my pimple marks. (see pic below)

More pics (click to enlarge)

Sorry its already empty, I got too excited I forgot to take pics before opening =P

Please don't mind my super dry hands haha

Left: My bare cheek
Right: with Kate Powder Foundation

See how sheer the coverage is?!
It evens out my skintone but my pimple marks are still visible.
I broke out really bad this past few weeks *sad*

Review: Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Foundation

Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup in Light/Pale

Product Info from Revlon:
NEW Colorstay Aqua™ Mineral Makeup delivers a burst of hydrating coconut water and an instant cooling sensation upon application. The result: your skin looks luminous and its texture smoother. With a shine-free formula that’s made with water, not oil, this lightweight powder gives you a fresh, flawless finish that lasts all day. Fragrance free and non-irritating.

RETAIL PRICE: Php 1,295.00

WEIGHT: 9.9 grams

SHADES : Available in 7 shades.

PROS:
* has spf 13
* feels lightweight
* i LOVE the cooling sensation it gives. Soooo addicting!
* has tiny shimmers; gives me a glowy effect similar to the Photoready line.
* sheer coverage - doesn't look cakey even with frequent retouching
* the brush is soft and dense
* no allergies so far - been using it as setting powder for more than a week now.

CONS:
* if you don't like shimmers then this product isn't for you.
* even though this is listed as " fragrance-free" it has a slight weird smell.. but don't worry coz it disappears a few minutes after application.
* does not cover pores since this powder has a sheer coverage.

TIPS:
* Cover half of the holes with a tape to dispense a little amount of product or place a puff inside to prevent the powder from spilling.
* I use my Ecotools kabuki brush to apply this as setting powder while the free brush can be used on areas that need more coverage like the chin area, sides of the nose etc.
* Since the free brush is made of synthetic hair, it can also be used as a liquid foundation brush or concealer brush for the undereyes.

I RECOMMEND THIS TO:
Ladies who want a glowing effect similar to Korean Celebs.

OVERALL:
You know me, I love shimmers! The price may be a shock for a Revlon product but I think this will last me 4 - 6 months with daily use, so sulit pa rin!

Review : Maybelline Mineral Power™ Naturally Luminous Blush in Simply Coral

*click pic to enlarge*

PRODUCT INFO from Maybelline:
Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush with micro-minerals provides you with a fresh, healthy flush of color.
  • Blends naturally with skin tone
  • Lightweight formula
  • Won’t clog pores
  • Contains 0% oil, 0% talc, 0% preservatives and 0% fragrance
TO USE:
Dip it: Dip brush into cap.
Tap it: Tap brush to remove excess.

Sweep it: Sweep onto cheeks.

PRICE: Php 180.

WEIGHT : 4.5 grams

SHADES: Available in more than 3 shades.

WHAT I LIKE:
* color reminds me of NARS Orgasm blush
* sheer but buildable color
* no weird makeup smell
* its mineral makeup, no allergies for me!
* pigmented
* average staying power (about 3 hours on me)
* pot holds a lot of product

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
* not available locally, but the Asian counterpart for this product is the Clear Smooth Minerals blush (Retails for Php 499). Click here to read Nikki's review.
* since this is mineral makeup in loose form, expect this to be messy if you plan to take this along.

TIPS:
I'm using a baby kabuki brush from Ellana. Put a little blush into the cap and slowly swirl the brush to distribute the color. Sweep onto cheeks and slowly layer if you want more color.

ADDICTION FACTOR:
Will not repurchase soon coz I think this product will last me long.

RATING :
4 out of 5

Swatches:

I love the peachy-pink color with shimmers!

TGIF!

Happy Friday everyone!
Just want to share my recent purchase. I ordered an Eyeshadow Primer with Eyeliner brush from All Natural Face.

**pic borrowed from Donnarence**

Thanks to Donnarence of MyLucidIntervals for posting!

I'm so lucky I got the last piece! So excited to try this Eye primer since its my first time to use one.
I only use a Concealer topped with Skinfood buckwheat loose powder, then Ellana's Eyeshadow in Hush (as base) to even out my eye area prior to applying eyeshadow.
I can say it worked coz my eyeshadow didn't crease the whole day (or maybe my lids aren't that oily?!)
My only concern is that I want my eyeshadow colors to look vibrant. After seeing Donnarence's before and after pics of her eyeshadow with and without primer, I'm convinced to try this one.

It only costs $4 for the Eye primer and brush and only $1.25 for shipping! Quite a steal huh?! Hopefully the seller will also include freebies.. *wink, wink*

Check out her Vegan Mineral Makeup and Brushes
here.

Sigh... I still have to wait for another 2 months to receive my order!

I also ordered NYX glosses and lippies from Ms. Cuppycakes last August, hopefully it will arrive 2nd week of October. Martha and Shobe , I know you guys are excited na rin ! hehe

True Colors 5 stack Mica Shimmer Powder Review

Thanks to my friend Dona from the US for giving me this.. It's so generous of her, always showering me with gifts!! I got almost all of my MAC makeup from her because of her 40% discount! LOL!

When she gave me this Mica powder, I wasn't sure on how to use this. I thought it's just a regular eyeshadow with the cute packaging! And am not so familiar with the brand too! =)

When I researched this online, boy I was wrong!! You can use this powder on almost anything!! Read on to learn more =) Details taken from their website.

*******************
TRUE COLORS MICA POWDERS

True Colors shimmer powders can be used as eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, bronzer, lipstick, nail polish, highlighter, temporary hair color, and every other cosmetic item. One pot of our mica makeup has enough pigment that other cosmetic companies will mix enough additives into to make hundreds of dollars.

True Colors Cosmetic Powder is the most unique makeup that exists. It is pure mica powder with no additives or ingredients of any kind. Other cosmetics use fillers, which cause allergies, reactions, creasing, clumping, and are generally bad news for the skin. Mica is the basic coloring agent that colors all make up, and can mix with any base to color it. Try the following applications and enjoy your new collections!

Used as an Eye shadow or Blush
Use a sponge applicator, shadow brush or blush brush and lightly touch the mica (dust off any excess mica) and apply to the eyelid or cheeks.

Used as an Eyeliner
Use an angled eyeliner brush, dip it in water, lightly touch the mica, (dab it on your hand to remove any excess mica) and apply it on your eyes.

Used as Lipstick
Use your favorite clear gloss, pick out your mica color and apply it on your lips. You can also mix the mica with the gloss and then apply. Which ever you prefer.

Used as a Nail Polish
Dip your clear nail polish in any mica color and apply it to your nails. Wipe off excess mica before putting brush back into the clear nail polish.

Used as Highlights or Lowlights
Use a blending brush, dip it in your mica color and start at the root and stroke all the way to the ends. For longer hold use it with gel or hair spray.

Used as a Tanning Lotion
Use your favorite lotion and mix it with a skin tone mica color, then apply it to your legs, arms and face. It will give you a beautiful and youthful glow.
